A response to Flirting with Disaster

This is my response to satD on “Flirting with Disaster: An Analysis on the Demand for Religious Freedom in Malaysia

Dear satD,

Great effort in setting up your argument on this topic.

Do allow me to point out something, and hope this does not offend you.

Your premise on why Bishop Ng should not say so is shown based on Egypt, and you have refuted the claim by explaining at length on Religious Restrictions and Social Hostilities.

As what I understand of Bishop Ng’s statement, I doubt he at any point imply constitutional and fundamental human rights is equated with “high government restrictions and low social hostilities”. In fact, it should incline towards “low government restrictions and low social hostilities”.

Hence, your conclusion is misguided by your false premises.

At this point of time, my personal opinion, I still yet see how our constitutional and fundamental human rights as per defined in our country’s constitution and also the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (which Malaysia signed and embraced) justify “high government restrictions and low social hostilities”. In fact, IMHO, i see it as “low government restrictions and low social hostilities”.

What you think? Leave your comment ya :)
